There Is No Black Cab Rank at Stansted
Stansted is unique among London's airports. There is no Hackney Carriage (black cab) rank. The on-site taxi service is Street Cars — the airport's contracted Private Hire Operator, exclusive to Stansted since April 2022. To use Street Cars you must visit their reservation desk inside arrivals and wait for a vehicle. For most travellers, pre-booking before you fly is the simpler and cheaper option.
From 19 March 2026, the Stansted Express Set Down (drop-off) charge increased from £7 to £10. All GetLondonTransfer fares include this charge — it is never added at the end of your journey. Street Cars and some Uber fares may add this separately.
